Today I watched a movie with the whole Indo Hope church, Soul Surfer. It's a story a bout a girl who has promising future as a pro surfer, but in her training, a shark bitten her left arm. If you want to know more the details, please find it on the Internet.
So before watched this movie, I know more less about the story from the trailer, and how she knows that her life is impacted other people life, so I got less excited when watching this movie. But when, she got bitten, suddenly there is a question came to my mind, "what future she will have with only one hand?" The only question i can come up with is God Kingdom. God always accept imperfect people to be in HIS kingdom.
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Her life began to change when she decided to join the mission trip.
Matthew 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
From this real life story, I can see Bethany's transformation, from being self-centered that thinking surfing is the only her life and to win the competition is all about she need to do, into God-centered where sharing LOVE to other people by teaching them how to surf and surfing is for surfing not to win.
Transformation begin from our inner self to the outside, slow or not, it doesn't matter, as long as you are growing to be a better person, and transformation indeed take some time to see the progress ^_^
