Easter Camp 22-24 April 2011 @Aloha Changi Resort

This was the most exciting camp I ever had =) The motto is LIVING, DOING and SHARING LIVE TOGETHER. And the purpose of the camp is KTP (Kartu Tanda Penduduk), it's a terms in Indonesia to differ each person identity. Through this camp, I got a lot of non-exchangeable experiences, from the stressful to prepare the games and how to DO LIVE and SHARING with each other.

The Preparation Day

Committee has to arrived 1 day earlier, which is 21 April 2011. It was a rush for me, because there was a sudden undelivered notice in my room when I arrived home that night, so I rushed to TPY post office to retrieve the parcel. Then hurried back to home, packed everything including dinner. Then went to Tampines MRT.

Arrived at Tampines MRT, joined with other committee, and waited for cab for 1 hour or more. Arrived at Aloha Changi Resort around 10pm. We had meeting and prayed for the houses to give blessing to whoever stay in that house during this easter camp.

First day

The first day games was about strength, agility and intelligence. Of course, the games are for a team, so through these games, I know who is better in every area (since I was one of the game PIC ^^ ). At night, we watched a movie about a guy named Rick Penning who is a Rugby player and pride of his own self-worth. Through an accident, and because he still under-age, he was sent to a place where "Listen Right" is the only rule need to abide. To make long short, there is a person named Kurt, who really brave to speak with Rick, he said "then what you need is a friend". Then he found out what is a team all about. KIA KAHA, means Forever Strong, is what they said to encourage each other. At the end, Rick managed to stand firm by saying, "I don't do anything to embarrass myself, my team, and my family."

Thing(s) to ponder

What is/are thing(s) that influenced your characteristic/attitude?
For me, is my current community. I used to be a stubborn, but through my this community, slowly I have been transformed to be better person. I learned how to listen, indeed it's difficult, especially when the topic is about my personal life. And it might be hurtful sometimes. Second, I learned about openness. I used to be a reserved person. Yet, through my 1 year journey, I managed to open myself, I can express what I have in my mind and how to share it with my friends. And by doing so, my friends also can impact/speak to my life.

Second day

The second day games are tiring, exciting and fun. It's about team building. Each team has to complete 3 games by teamwork, not individual. The first game was about to go through the a "maze" by holding each other hand, the problem was the path of the maze interchange with each other, so we had to work as a team under the blessing of sunlight.

The second game was about creating a path from start into finish and everyone has to step on the so called "path", if one member fall down, have to repeat from the start again, the path are created by some of cartons. From this game, we had to help each other by stabilized unstable nearby member.

The third game was about helping each others by opening a way, become a stepping stone and pulling each other to climb the wall. This game is divided into 3 parts, the first part, we need to gather water from the sea back into the bucket by using a glass that tied into our wrist. The second part is, we had to find a way to allow team members cross the path without stepping into the sand. So, 4 of us, decided to use our upper foot as a bridge. The painful part here was the sand haha. There are some sands under members foot, thus the pain was doubled. The latest part was about climb the wall. Here we need to push and pull members to help them climb the wall. Then I realized the danger of barefoot, so by the time I climbed the wall, I examined the surrounding and found out there was a worm, so I warned nearby members.

Thing(s) to ponder

In daily life, what's your opinion about stepping into someone area consciously / unconsciously ?
Mostly what happen is, we are unconsciously stepped into someone area, it might not be a serious matter for ourself, but it might be very hurtful to others. So my view is, I can't prevent stepping into someone area, but when it happen, what I can do is say "Sorry" first and then, explain why I did like that, hopefully the other side will understand. Yes indeed, it's not our fault because we are not intentionally did it, yet if we never seek for reconcile, things will always like that. True friendship is builds under any circumstances, by having fight each other, my friendship with him will going stronger than before.

Third Day

Nothing much to do. We had prayed and worshiped God for what He had done during Easter camp. Then prepared to go Easter Service at Suntec City.

KIA KAHA in GOD,
